Just a question... How long does it take to make something like this???

Well take away the time it takes to model, texture and rig the models and render panels, set up the lighting, etc etc - just doing the rough panel layout sketches and then post render work, i'd say maybe 2 to 4 days, I like to leave my work to stew for a day or so and go back to it so i can't fix anything i may have missed.

Really??? WOW ! That much time just for this part! The whole thing must take you 3 times that from the designing to the end... I admire your patience... And do you do all your designs by yourself??? For me, it's the hardest part... to figure out where each part goes and how things goes together and fits. That's why it takes me a long time before I finish only one picture. Maybe it's because I think too much...

Ha - patience certainly is a hard thing to attain, let alone sustain! The bulk of my TF work is mostly designed by other far more stylish & mechanically talented artists than me, such as *EJ-Su, *markerguru, *Guidoarts, ~mmatere, *Caliber316, ~glovestudios and ~JT-blueart, to just name my faves off the top 'o my head!

With my other work, the personal project I work on from time to time is 100% my own desings, all influenced by a wide range of artists, movies and cartoons :D It purely a labour of love for me, very satisfying when I finish a piece.

Figuring out all the mechanics and movement and functionality is all part of the fun - but don't get too carried away with it, cause that in itself is very fun to do. I get stuck on that most of the time - just designing and refining.

Other than that, just get into it!

Well, next time I'll draw a transformer, I think I'll use one of my toys to use it as a "mechanical" example. Nothing better than observation. Oh, by the way... thanks a lot for the elaborate answers... I really appreciate that you spend a part of your precious time explaining me things and giving me advices... ;) Your a very kind person :)

Wow this is really awesome! I'm also doing 3d art and know how much work that must have been. I really admire all the little details you put into this, the lively poses and facial expressions! Did you rig the faces or morph them or how did that work?

:D I'm glad u've taken the time to appreciate all the little details, hope u have as much fun looking for them, as I had doing them! I actually draw some details on their faces - I find that blend shapes/morph targets or rigging the faces on my TFs don't work out too well, I do however on my other non-TF art tho... weird!

This is some amazing artwork. I'm impressed by the way it makes me feel like I'm in a dimly lit area with dozens of computer monitors as the only light.

The first panel makes my eyes hurt after a while, but that's actually a compliment! You did it so well my eyes think they're actually in the situation and start hurting just as they do when I stare at monitors in the dark. ;)

o_O

this is a masterpiece, you have REALLY outdone yourself, this is the best piece you've done bar NONE.

I've always wanted to see someone successfully make TF comics in 3D, but designed for still imagery and not just "screen caps" of animation, this looks made for the comic page.

I tried to do something like it like, gosh, almost a decade ago now, and I failed miserably due to lack of professional 3d skillz :-P

Its good to see someone finally succeeding in that concept!

Good sir - I thank you :D

Thanks dude, I really appreciate it. I know what u mean by 'screen cap' comics, I always try my best to avoid that and strive to steer away from the norm.

I really thank you for the praise - makes me feel like the effort I put in is worth it. :D

You'll dig the other mosaics that'll be coming soon... Mu-hahahahaahaaaa!!!

I'm quite lookin' forward to em!! :-) You seriously need to be doing like a full comic or webcomic VERY soon with these skillz.

Now if only I can get my "in queue" Mosaics done soon, I wont feel so guilty about em xD

yah, double sigh. i think i got like 4 or 5 something like that. wont really be able to get to them until the new year. I have three that are like "important" to me to get done so I gotta figure out a "speedier" method by january so I can actually get SOMETHING done, lol
